Report on the Review of Quality Assurance Activities for Academic Year 2014–2015 and Directions and Tasks for Academic Year 2015–2016

In implementation of the Quality Assurance (QA) Plan for Academic Year 2014–2015 of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the University conducted a review of activities carried out under the approved plan, including the following contents:

  1. Programme Self-Assessment According to AUN Standards

During the 2014–2015 academic year, the University implemented a comprehensive plan for the collection and development of Information and Evidence Portfolios and the preparation of Programme Self-Assessment Reports according to AUN standards for 11 faculties, including:

  • Basic Sciences
  • Accounting and Auditing
  • Finance and Banking
  • Business Administration
  • Agricultural Science and Biotechnology
  • Chemical and Food Technology
  • Construction Engineering
  • Foreign Languages
  • Medicine
  • Information Technology
  • Pharmacy

To support faculties in collecting and compiling Information and Evidence Portfolios, including the development of AUN-required core documents, the Quality Assurance Board drafted a common Self-Assessment Report template for programme-level accreditation. This document was circulated for comments from the Academic Affairs Office and participating faculties and was subsequently approved for official implementation.

In addition, to further support faculties undertaking self-assessment, academic support units updated Version 2 of the Self-Assessment Report (2015) and provided supplementary data to nine faculties.

  1. Institutional Self-Assessment According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s University Accreditation Standards

In implementation of Official Letter No. 979/BGDĐT-KTKĐCLGD dated March 3, 2015, regarding quality assurance and accreditation activities for higher education institutions and professional secondary schools in 2015 and 2016, Nguyen Tat Thanh University commenced institutional self-assessment according to the University Accreditation Standards, consisting of 61 criteria under 10 standards within one accreditation cycle.

Specific activities included:

  • June 15, 2015: University leadership met to determine the objectives, scope, and timeline of the self-assessment process, as well as the membership of the Self-Assessment Council, Secretariat, and specialized working groups.
  • June 26, 2015: The Self-Assessment Council, Secretariat, and specialized working groups convened to announce:
    • Decision No. 201/QĐ-NTT dated June 23, 2015, on the establishment of the Self-Assessment Council;
    • Decision No. 202/QĐ-NTT dated June 23, 2015, on the establishment of the Secretariat and specialized working groups.
  • The meeting also disseminated the objectives and rationale of the self-assessment process, implemented Plan No. 50/KH-NTT dated June 23, 2015, and discussed and assigned specific responsibilities.
  • October 1, 2015: Specialized working groups submitted their assigned sections of Version 1 of the Institutional Self-Assessment Report.
  • According to the implementation plan, Version 1 of the Nguyen Tat Thanh University Institutional Self-Assessment Report (2016) was scheduled for internal dissemination in early February 2016.
  1. Stakeholder Surveys

At the beginning of the 2014–2015 academic year, the University issued Plan No. 99/KH-NTT dated November 11, 2014, regarding stakeholder surveys.

Accordingly:

  • The Center for Enterprise Relations and Student Support issued Plan No. 08/KH-NTT dated January 22, 2015, on surveys of graduates and employers.
  • The Academic Affairs Office issued Plan No. 13/KH-NTT dated February 6, 2015, regarding course evaluations and end-of-programme surveys.
  1. Collection of Information and Data and Updating the 2014 Higher Education Quality Status Report

The updating of information and data for the Higher Education Quality Status Report is a mandatory annual requirement stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training.

To provide the basis for preparing this report—which also serves as the Educational Quality Accreditation Database used in various versions of the University’s Self-Assessment Reports—the University issued Plan No. 100/KH-NTT dated November 11, 2014, requesting all units to organize the collection of relevant information and data.
