Nguyen Tat Thanh University holds the first meeting of the Education Quality Assurance Council in 2020

On August 14, 2020 (Friday), the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University held its first meeting of 2020 in order to review the EQA activities achieved in 2019, the work carried out in the first six months of 2020, and to discuss activities to be implemented for the remainder of 2020.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Member of the University Council – Permanent Vice Rector – Permanent Vice Chair of the Council, presented the list of members of the Education Quality Assurance Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, consisting of 21 members representing the University Council, the Board of Management, leaders of faculties/departments, students, alumni, and enterprises (updated according to Decision No. 502/QĐ-NTT dated August 6, 2020).

Continuing the meeting, Dr. Tran Ai Cam reported the summary of the University’s quality assurance activities achieved in 2019 and the results of work in the first six months of 2020, as well as discussion contents including: reporting on the implementation results of strategic targets for the 2018–2020 period; announcing the results of seven academic programs accredited for quality assurance at program level according to AUN-QA standards and the Ministry of Education and Training standards; the accreditation roadmap for academic programs for the 2020–2025 period; preparation for institutional accreditation; and survey results on (i) student support service quality, (ii) overall student experience during the entire study program, and (iii) employment status of graduates in 2019.

Based on the presented content, members of the Education Quality Assurance Council exchanged opinions and discussed during the meeting. M.A. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chair of the University Council – stated that program-level accreditation is a necessary and mandatory requirement of the Ministry of Education and Training in the current period. Dr. Nguyen Van Luong – Vice Chair of the University Council and member of the EQA Council – highly appreciated the university’s quality assurance activities in recent times and oriented that the 2020–2025 strategy should be developed in alignment with resources and the domestic, regional, and international context. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung – Chair of the University Council – directed that the university’s development strategy should strengthen internationalization for global integration.

The members agreed to establish sub-committees for developing the 2020–2025 development strategy, conduct institutional self-assessment starting from November 2020 for re-accreditation in May 2020, approve the quality assurance accreditation roadmap for 2020–2025, and organize quality improvement meetings based on student survey results.
