Opening Ceremony of the Official External Assessment for 03 Training Programs: Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Vietnamese Studies, and Nursing

NTTU – On the morning of September 13, 2022, at the An Phu Dong campus, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) held the opening ceremony for the official external assessment of three undergraduate programs: Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Vietnamese Studies, and Nursing. The assessment is conducted by the Center for Education Quality Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (CEA-VNUHCM).

The ceremony was attended by the External Assessment Team, including: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen – Former Chairman of the University Council, HCM City University of Technology and Education – serving as the Team Leader; Mr. Hoang Tho Phu (M.A.) – Head of the Department of Quality Assurance, University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM – serving as the Team Secretary; along with other team members. Representing NTTU were Dr. Tran Ai Cam – Member of the University Council and President; Dr. Tran Thien Luu – Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh – Vice President and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnamese Studies; Dr. Tran Thi Chau – Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Le Van An – Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; and various heads of relevant departments.

Opening the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Tho Phu announced the Decision to establish the External Assessment Team for the three undergraduate programs. During the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen, Team Leader, introduced the objectives, content, and members of the assessment delegation. He also expressed his gratitude to the team members and NTTU for their trust and cooperation throughout the assessment process.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Board of Management, President Tran Ai Cam extended a warm welcome to the experts from CEA-VNUHCM. She committed to providing the best conditions for the team to work under the principles of “Objectivity – Transparency – Professionalism – Quality.” Dr. Cam emphasized that training quality accreditation has always been a top priority for NTTU since its early days as a vocational training institution, reflecting its responsibility toward students, parents, businesses, and society. “The accreditation of Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Nursing, and Vietnamese Studies is part of our strategic roadmap for self-assessment and external assessment across more than 50 programs. This process enables Faculties to maintain accountability for training quality to stakeholders, providing a foundation for continuous review and improvement to enhance training quality and institutional governance efficiency, thereby affirming the University’s position both domestically and regionally,” Dr. Cam stated.

Prior to this event, on August 31, 2022, representatives from CEA-VNUHCM, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam (Director of the Center), conducted a preliminary visit for these three programs. During that visit, the team reviewed the documentation and evidence systems, conducted site visits of facilities—including working areas, laboratories, and lecture halls—and interviewed specialized staff members to prepare for the official visit.

The official site visit by the External Assessment Team at NTTU is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 16, 2022. Key activities include reviewing dossiers and evidence, interviewing faculty leadership, lecturers, and students, conducting interviews and site visits of university departments, and gathering feedback from employers and alumni.
