June 24, 2026 – Times Higher Education (THE) officially announced the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, a global ranking that assesses universities’ contributions to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) achieved an outstanding rise to the 201–300 global ranking band, the highest score in the University’s history of participation in this ranking.
A New Milestone for the Ranking and NTTU’s Position
The year 2026 marks an important transformation as THE officially renamed the ranking from THE Impact Rankings to THE Sustainability Impact Ratings, while also launching the international Sustainability Impact Network membership platform.
With 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories participating, this year’s ranking focuses on institutions demonstrating independently verified commitments to sustainable development, significantly enhancing the quality and representativeness of the evaluation system.
Vietnam had 17 participating universities, up from 16 in 2025, reflecting the strong momentum of Vietnamese higher education in its international integration journey toward sustainable development.
At the regional level, Asia continues to affirm its leading role, with 25 ASEAN universities entering the global Top 200—an exceptional proportion compared to the region’s standing in traditional academic rankings. ASEAN contributed 352 institutions out of more than 1,646 participants this year, highlighting increasingly intense competition from neighboring countries.
Against this backdrop, NTTU advanced to the 201–300 global band and ranked second among the 17 Vietnamese universities participating in the ranking, reflecting the University’s persistent efforts, consistency, and well-directed sustainable development strategy.
Outstanding Achievements Across Individual SDGs
According to THE’s methodology, the overall score is calculated from SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which accounts for 22%, plus the three highest-scoring SDGs, each contributing 26%.
NTTU recorded notable achievements in the following areas:
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
NTTU’s strongest area, scoring 90.9 points and ranking 71st globally (among 1,610 institutions). The indicator for SDG reporting publication achieved a perfect score of 100 points, while partnerships supporting the SDGs rose significantly to 93.3 points. NTTU ranked among the world’s leading institutions in this most important mandatory criterion. - SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being
Ranked in the 101–200 global band (among 1,254 institutions). Leveraging the strengths of its Faculty of Medicine and community healthcare orientation, the University reaffirmed its commitment to training healthcare professionals and conducting biomedical research for community benefit. - SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
Ranked in the 101–200 global band (among 1,003 institutions), maintaining strong performance for a second consecutive year and reflecting the effectiveness of practice-oriented education closely linked to industry. - SDG 4 – Quality Education
Ranked in the 201–300 global band, sustaining momentum after a remarkable leap from the 1001–1500 band in 2024. This result clearly reflects efforts in curriculum innovation and international accreditation. - SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
Advanced to the 401–600 global band, up from the 601–800 band in 2025, demonstrating efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive educational environment.
Development Orientation: From Commitment to Meaningful Action
Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, Vice President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, stated that the results of the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 represent well-deserved recognition of the continuous efforts of the University’s staff, faculty members, and students.
She emphasized that the University does not regard this achievement as a destination, but rather as part of an ongoing journey. Each ranking cycle is viewed as an opportunity for NTTU to listen to feedback from the international academic community, strengthen what it is doing well, and expand its contributions into areas where society needs greater support.
The University’s goal is to build an institution that not only educates highly skilled professionals but also nurtures responsible individuals who are prepared to create positive impacts on communities and the world.
In the coming years, NTTU will continue to promote research connected to practical applications, expand collaboration with communities and businesses, and develop lifelong learning programs that meet the diverse needs of learners of all ages.

Recognition Across Multiple International Rankings
In addition to its THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 results, on June 16, 2026, U.S. News & World Report officially announced the Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027, featuring 2,250 higher education institutions from more than 100 countries.
Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved an impressive 849th place globally, ranking third among the 11 Vietnamese universities included in this prestigious ranking.
This marks the second consecutive year that NTTU has been recognized by U.S. News, further confirming the University’s international standing as acknowledged by leading independent evaluation organizations worldwide.
A Persistent Journey with a Human-Centered Vision
Since first participating in the THE Impact Rankings in 2024, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has continuously improved its scores in each ranking cycle and expanded its contributions to global sustainable development goals.
THE Sustainability Impact Ratings is the only global university ranking that evaluates institutions across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, measuring performance comprehensively in four areas: research, resource management, community engagement, and teaching.
According to the THE survey, 85% of member institutions believe that participation in the ranking enhances their reputation, while more than half consider it the strongest evidence of their commitment to sustainable development.
