On the morning of October 19, 2019, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, in collaboration with the Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), organized the “Ceremony for the Announcement of the Accreditation Decision and the Awarding of the Educational Quality Accreditation Certificate for the Bachelor’s Programme in Hotel Management – Welcome to the 2019–2020 Academic Year” of the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnam Studies. The event was held at the University’s An Phu Dong Campus, District 12.
After 12 months of self-assessment and registration for programme accreditation beginning in March 2019, today’s ceremony marked a significant milestone in the development of the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnam Studies in particular and Nguyen Tat Thanh University as a whole. It also serves as evidence of the value and quality of the degree awarded to students who are currently studying or have graduated from the Faculty. Recognition of the programme’s quality by an accreditation body will help the Faculty attract more industry partners for collaborative training activities, thereby creating additional internship opportunities and employment prospects for students upon graduation.
Attending the ceremony on behalf of the Center for Education Accreditation (CEA) were Associate Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, Acting Deputy Director of the Center for Education Accreditation, VNU-HCM, and Mr. La Hoai Tuan, Chief of Office of the Center for Education Accreditation, VNU-HCM.
Representing the University were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Vice Rector. Representing the Faculty were Professor Dr. Ngo Van Le, Senior Advisor, and M.A. Phan Thi Ngan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnam Studies, together with representatives of partner enterprises and all newly enrolled students of the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnam Studies.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. La Hoai Tuan, Chief of Office of the Center, announced the decision to grant the Educational Quality Accreditation Certificate to the Bachelor’s Programme in Hotel Management. Subsequently, Associate Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, Acting Deputy Director of the Center, officially presented the accreditation certificate for the Bachelor’s Programme in Hotel Management. She also congratulated the Faculty on its achievement and highly appreciated its efforts in successfully completing both the self-assessment and external assessment processes.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, the Bachelor’s Programme in Hotel Management was one of the three highest-scoring accredited programmes nationwide, achieving a quality assessment result of 96% among all programmes evaluated under the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training up to that time.
On behalf of the University’s Executive Board, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Vice Rector, emphasized the importance of quality assurance activities to the University. She noted that the achievement attained today provides additional motivation for the University community to continue its journey of quality enhancement. The University expressed its sincere gratitude to the experts of the External Assessment Team and the Center for Education Accreditation, VNU-HCM, for conducting the evaluation in a rigorous, objective, and impartial manner. The University also reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the learning environment and educational quality in order to build an institution that always places learners at the center of its mission.
In addition to celebrating the awarding of the educational quality accreditation certificate, the Faculty of Tourism and Vietnam Studies organized several other meaningful activities, including welcoming the new academic year, recognizing faculty members with outstanding achievements in teaching and student recruitment, and presenting awards for the “Tourism Talent 2019” competition.
