Preliminary Survey of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Training Program at Nguyen Tat Thanh University

Implementing the accreditation plan for training programs in accordance with Circular 04/2016/TT-BGDĐT, on the morning of December 17, 2019, the External Assessment Team from the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City conducted a working session at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to carry out the preliminary survey for the accreditation of the undergraduate Pharmacy program.

The External Assessment Team included: Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Sinh – Team Leader; Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen – Secretary; Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Dai Nghiep – Permanent Member; Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nam – Member; and M.A. Bui Thi Nhu Hue – Academic Secretary.

Welcoming the External Assessment Team, Nguyen Tat Thanh University was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung – President; Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Dr. Tran Ai Cam – Vice President; M.A. Nguyen Thanh Nghia – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; leaders of the Quality Assurance Office; along with faculty members from the Faculty of Pharmacy and representatives from various university units.

During the working session, the External Assessment Team conducted several activities including: reviewing self-assessment reports and supporting evidence; conducting random teaching observations of two lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy; and surveying facilities at the Faculty of Pharmacy across two campuses (298A and 300A Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, District 4), including the faculty office, departments such as the Quality Assurance Office, Academic Affairs Office, Information Management Office, Facilities Management Office, Information and Library Center, Testing and Assessment Center, E-Learning Institute, classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, and dormitory facilities.

At the conclusion of the preliminary survey, the External Assessment Team held a working session with the University Board, representatives of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Quality Assurance Office to agree on the requirements for the official survey. These included interview participants, lists of required additional evidence documents, facilities that needed further inspection, and working conditions for the External Assessment Team.

To acknowledge the activities conducted during the preliminary survey, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Sinh – Head of the External Assessment Team – and Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy – signed a minutes of completion of the preliminary survey. The official external assessment visit was agreed to be conducted from December 24 to December 26, 2019.
