NTTU Welcomes External Assessment Team for Preliminary Visit of 8 Training Programs

NTTU – Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) has welcomed the External Assessment Team from the Center for Education Quality Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (CEA-VNUHCM) for a preliminary visit of eight training programs. These included five undergraduate programs: Piano, Public Relations, E-commerce, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Medicine; and three Master’s programs: Economic Law, English Language, and Drug quality control and Toxicology.

The delegation working at NTTU included Ms. Ho Dac Hai Mien (M.A.) – Deputy Director of CEA-VNUHCM; Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia – Former Vice President of VNU-HCM and Head of the assessment team for four programs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen – Former Chairman of the University Council of HCM City University of Technology and Education and Head of the assessment team for the remaining four programs; along with several experts from the delegation.

During the morning session, the delegation held an internal meeting to finalize their tasks, methodologies, and working schedule. Subsequently, the team conducted site visits and discussions with various university units, including: the Department of Student Affairs; the Department of Corporate Relations and Job Placement for Students; the Office of Academic Affairs; the Department of Human Resources; the Center for Educational Testing; the Center for Student Recruitment and Counseling; and the faculty offices of the participating programs at the District 12 campus. They also inspected the facilities prepared for the upcoming official survey.

In the afternoon, the team interviewed the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) writing groups and met with the leadership of the seven faculties involved. Following this, the delegation held a meeting with university representatives to exchange essential information, reach a consensus on the official visit protocols, and sign the preliminary visit minutes.

Representing NTTU at the session were Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President; along with members of the Self-Assessment Council and leaders and staff from the participating faculties.

At the meeting, Dr. Tran Ai Cam introduced the Self-Assessment Council and summarized the evaluation process for the eight programs from September 2024 to the present. The University committed to providing the best possible conditions for the delegation to work efficiently. Dr. Cam shared that the primary goal of the assessment is quality improvement, and she expressed her gratitude to CEA-VNUHCM and the experts for their participation in the 2024–2025 academic year assessments.

Representing the assessment teams, Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia introduced the objectives, content, and members of the visit delegation. He provided feedback and suggestions for the University to finalize its evidence documentation, prepare working conditions, and organize the list of interviewees for the official visit. Dr. Nghia highly commended the University’s preparation thus far, noting that the programs provided requested information and evidence promptly. On behalf of the experts, he thanked NTTU and CEA-VNUHCM for their trust and cooperation, pledging to work under the principles of Objectivity – Transparency – Professionalism – Quality.

As part of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen engaged in direct discussions with the President and the Faculties regarding interview formats, the number of participants, requirements for graduating students, and the interview shortlists.

To record the results of the working day, NTTU leaders, CEA-VNUHCM representatives, and the External Assessment Team signed the Memorandum of Understanding completing the preliminary visit. The signing was witnessed by the leaders of the eight programs and specialized units. These results serve as a foundation for the University to continue its thorough preparations for the official external assessment.

The Official Visit at Nguyen Tat Thanh University is scheduled to take place from May 27 to May 30, 2025.
