
NTTU – The University Performance Metrics (UPM) education quality benchmarking system has announced the results of its 2025 star-rated higher education institution rankings. Among them, Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to affirm its position as one of the leading higher education institutions pursuing an innovation-oriented university model by maintaining its overall 5-star rating.
According to the UPM results, in 2025, a total of 14 higher education institutions received a 5-star rating, including 9 universities under the application-oriented category and 5 under the research-oriented category. This year, Nguyen Tat Thanh University made significant progress in the rankings, achieving an overall score of 787.5/1000, an increase of 35.5 points compared to 2022 (752 points), placing it among the Top 5 universities in Vietnam.

The 2025 UPM report shows considerable improvements across most of Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s key indicators compared to 2022. In particular, several criteria achieved near-perfect scores, including Strategic Ambition, Research, Digital Transformation, Community Services, and others. Specifically, the University recorded strong growth in the following areas:
- Education: This criterion showed the most significant improvement, with the score increasing from 200.5 to 227. This impressive growth was driven by several factors, particularly advancements in postgraduate education.
- Digital Transformation: This criterion also recorded solid growth, with the score rising from 70.5 to 77. The improvement reflects enhanced digital academic resources and increased access to learning resources.
- Innovation: This criterion increased from 71.5 to 79 points. The growth was mainly attributed to the recognition of international patents.
- Strategic Ambition: This criterion increased slightly from 55 to 57 points. The improvement resulted from higher scores in the “Student-Centered Policies and Procedures” indicator, demonstrating progress in establishing and implementing student-centered policies.
In addition, Nguyen Tat Thanh University continued to maintain strong and stable performance in several other important criteria, including:
- Research: Maintained at 190/200 points. Sustaining 95% of the maximum score demonstrates the University’s consistently strong research capacity.
- University Ecosystem: Maintained at 56/80 points.
- Community Services: Maintained at 72/80 points. Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to perform well in activities related to community service.

Commenting on the 2025 ranking results, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, stated that, overall, the 2025 UPM results present a positive picture of the University’s performance, highlighting strengths in Education, Digital Transformation, Innovation, Research, Community Services, and other areas. The University clearly recognizes that, in the context of implementing comprehensive and fundamental reforms in education and training, maintaining and enhancing quality is not only a responsibility but also a commitment to learners and society. UPM serves as one of the important tools that enables Nguyen Tat Thanh University to evaluate itself, make necessary adjustments, and improve its governance, education, research, and community engagement.
“Receiving the UPM 5-star rating is not only a powerful source of motivation for the University to continue enhancing its position, but also an important milestone on its journey toward sustainable development, with the goal of becoming an innovation-oriented university that is increasingly integrated with the region and the world,” Dr. Cam emphasized.
Over the past 26 years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has fulfilled its historical mission of successfully developing into an application- and profession-oriented university with significant scale and influence, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the labor market. Having completed this initial stage of development, the University has taken the lead in transforming into an innovation-oriented university.
This strategic move not only aligns with global development trends but also corresponds to the strategic direction outlined in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation. Accordingly, the University continues to identify innovation, digital transformation, and international integration for sustainable development as its three core pillars. Within this framework, it focuses on achieving the dual goals of mass and excellence education, corresponding respectively to open innovation and entrepreneurship, and to a high-quality segment emphasizing pioneering innovation and technology transfer.
These achievements represent not only well-deserved recognition of the tireless efforts of the University’s faculty and staff, but also an important stepping stone as Nguyen Tat Thanh University enters a new stage of development.
