From April 1 to 3, 2026, at Can Tho University, representatives from ACCEES member universities participated in a workshop to develop digital competency training modules for Vietnamese lecturers and university staff. The NTTU delegation attending the program included Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, Vice President of the University, together with Ms. Ho Ngoc Huyen Truc (Head of the Human Resources Department); Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Kieu (Director of the Library Center); and Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc (Deputy Head of the Communications Department). During the three-day working session, the delegates worked together to transform the digital competencies identified in previous activities into specific training content.
From Digital Competencies to Training Content
The workshop received online guidance from Ms. Renata Jonina and Ms. Salomé Desanges, experts from the University of Strasbourg (France). The first working day focused on the basic principles of instructional design, including constructive alignment, developing learning objectives, designing activities, assessing learning outcomes, and active pedagogical methods for adults.
Following the general discussion, the delegates discussed and selected four topics to be developed into training modules. The following two days were organized into groups, with activities focusing respectively on identifying competencies, developing learning objectives, selecting teaching activities, digital tools, and assessment methods.
Four Modules Agreed Upon
Over the three days of work, the delegates agreed that the modules should be developed from competencies and learning objectives, followed by the selection of appropriate activities, tools, and assessment methods. AI was also integrated throughout the process, from designing learning materials and developing activities to supporting assessment, in response to new requirements for lecturers in the context of digital transformation. On this basis, four modules were finalized and agreed upon, including:
- Designing and producing digital learning resources;
- Developing teaching activity scenarios based on active pedagogy;
- Designing a progressive learning assessment system;
- Designing online courses.
After completion, the modules will be used to prepare training courses for ACCEES core staff. This is the next step in turning the digital competency framework that has been developed into specific training content that can be implemented at member universities.
Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam, Vice President of NTTU, participated throughout all three working days with the university delegation, thereby closely following the process through which the groups discussed, developed, and finalized each training module. This also provides a basis for NTTU to proactively prepare for digital competency training activities to be implemented in the subsequent stages of the project.
