
On the morning of April 19, 2022, representatives of the External Evaluation Expert Team from the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation at Vinh University Center for Educational Quality Accreditation conducted a preliminary survey for the institutional quality evaluation of Nguyễn Tất Thành University.
The delegation included Prof. Dr. Sci. Banh Tien Long, former Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training and head of the evaluation team, and Dr. Tran Đinh Quang, secretary of the team and director of the Center.
During the preliminary survey, the team leader and secretary toured the university’s facilities in District 12, including practice rooms, laboratories, the library, the CoopSmile supermarket, and offices such as the Department of Enterprise Relations and Student Employment, the Student Affairs Office, and the Medical Office. They also reviewed the proposed interview rooms and working spaces for the evaluation team and examined supporting evidence and documentation.
After the tour, the external evaluation team had positive impressions regarding the university’s investment and development in recent years. In particular, Prof. Dr. Sci. Banh Tien Long, who had approved the proposal establishing Nguyen Tat Thanh University while serving as Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training, remarked on the university’s impressive growth and achievements compared with its original development plan.

After touring the facilities and reviewing the evidence, the evaluation team and the university held a working session to discuss the university’s self-evaluation report and to agree on preparations for the official survey.
At the meeting, Dr. Tran Đinh Quang, representing the accreditation center, expressed gratitude to the external evaluation team for their time and effort in conducting the institutional evaluation. He also thanked the university for placing its trust in the center and for continuing its accreditation process from program-level evaluation to institution-level evaluation.

Next, representing the university, Rector Dr. Tran Ai Cm presented an overview of the institution, its internal quality assurance system, the self-evaluation process, and major improvements made during the 2017–2022 period.
Following its first accreditation review in 2016, the university implemented all recommendations contained in the external evaluation report. It also adopted the institutional quality standards outlined in Circular 12/2017 to guide its operations in governance, internationalization, quality assurance, education, scientific research, and community service. The university has achieved numerous accomplishments in accreditation, star-rating systems, rankings, scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

On behalf of the evaluation team, Prof. Dr. Sci. Banh Tien Long presented the team’s findings from its review of the university’s self-evaluation report. The team highly appreciated the report, the preparation of supporting evidence, and the university’s readiness for the evaluation process.
The evaluation team and the university also agreed on requirements regarding:
- Additional evidence to be provided;
- The number and composition of interview participants;
- Subjects and activities to be observed and inspected;
- The schedule for the evaluation visit;
- Working principles;
- Logistical arrangements for the evaluation team.

The preliminary survey concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by representatives of the external evaluation team, the university, and the accreditation center.

The parties agreed that the official evaluation visit to Nguyen Tat Thanh University would take place from May 6 to May 11, 2022.
