Opening Ceremony for External Assessment of Four Academic Programmes According to AUN-QA Standards

NTTU – In order to further strengthen internal quality assurance activities, on the morning of September 11, at the An Phu Dong Campus, Nguyen Tat Thanh University solemnly held the opening ceremony for the external assessment of four academic programmes under the quality assurance standards of the ASEAN University Network (AUN). The four programmes under review included Information Technology, Finance and Banking, Business Administration, and English Language Studies.

Attending the opening session, the AUN assessment team consisted of nine experts from Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand, led by Associate Professor Dr. Shahrir Abdullah (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) as Head of the Assessment Team.

Representing Nguyen Tat Thanh University were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Rector; Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Vice Rector; Dr. Hoang Huu Dung, Vice Rector; together with academic staff, lecturers, and representatives of the leadership of the four faculties whose programmes were being assessed during this review cycle.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that AUN is a prestigious organization. From the outset, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has identified quality as a vital requirement for its survival and development. The University proactively adopted the AUN-QA Standards Version 2.0 and subsequently Version 3.0 as standard tools to systematize and standardize its activities. The University places its trust in the quality assurance system and assessment processes of AUN-QA and believes that the professional, rigorous, transparent, and fair work of the AUN-QA assessors will help the four programmes successfully complete the assessment, thereby creating a foundation for the University to integrate its quality standards with those of countries across the region.

Following the opening session, the external assessment team conducted a site visit of the University’s facilities and subsequently met with the Board of Rectors, faculty leaders, students, alumni, and employers to conduct interviews and collect supporting evidence. The assessment took place from September 11 to September 13, 2019.
