Implementation of Institutional Self-Assessment at Higher Education Level in 2015

In implementation of Official Dispatch No. 979/BGDĐT-KTKĐCLGD issued on March 3, 2015 by the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the implementation of quality assurance and accreditation of higher education and vocational education institutions in 2015 and 2016, and based on Consolidated Document No. 06/VBHN-BGDĐT on the promulgation of the Regulations on Quality Assessment Standards for Higher Education Institutions issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, Nguyen Tat Thanh University carried out the institutional self-assessment in 2015 according to the Higher Education Quality Assessment Standards (including 61 criteria under 10 standards) of the Ministry of Education and Training in 2015. The activity took place on the morning of June 26, 2015 at Room A803, with the participation of members of the Self-Assessment Council, the Secretariat, and specialized working groups assisting the Council.

At the meeting, Nguyen Manh Hung, Rector of the University and Chair of the Self-Assessment Council, affirmed the importance of institutional self-assessment in higher education in particular and quality assurance in general for the survival and development of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, especially in the context of increasingly intense competition in student enrollment.

Tran Ai Cam, Vice Rector in charge of Training Management and Quality Assurance and Standing Vice Chair of the Self-Assessment Council, also (i) announced the decisions on the establishment of the Self-Assessment Council, the Secretariat, and specialized working groups, as well as the assignment of duties to individuals and units in the institutional self-assessment work (according to Official Document No. 250/NTT-BĐBCL issued on March 23, 2015); and (ii) disseminated the guidelines, objectives, and scope of the institutional self-assessment.

Next, To Minh Thanh, Head of the Quality Assurance Division and Head of the Secretariat of the Self-Assessment Council, continued by (i) presenting the 2015 institutional self-assessment plan which had been approved and issued by the Rector, Chair of the Self-Assessment Council (according to Plan No. 50/KH-NTT dated June 23, 2015), and (ii) seeking feedback on the plan for professional training to implement the institutional self-assessment in 2015 of Nguyen Tat Thanh University scheduled for July 10–11, 2015.

The participants discussed and exchanged opinions on the University’s 2015 institutional self-assessment plan. At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed to implement the institutional self-assessment activities at the University level and approved the plan. The University leadership committed full support for the Self-Assessment Council, the Secretariat, and the specialized working groups in carrying out this work.
