Following Official Dispatch No. 979/BGDĐT-KTKĐCLGD issued on March 3, 2015 by the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the implementation of quality assurance and accreditation activities for higher education and vocational education institutions in 2015 and 2016, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized a professional training workshop on the implementation of institutional self-assessment in 2015. The workshop aimed to promote the development of a quality culture at the University and took place over two days, July 10–11, 2015, at Room A803. The program attracted more than 50 staff members, including members of the Self-Assessment Council, the Secretariat, and specialized working groups supporting the Council.
Opening remarks were delivered by Tran Ai Cam, Vice Rector in charge of Training Management and Quality Assurance and Standing Vice Chair of the Self-Assessment Council, who introduced the objectives and content of the program.
The training covered key topics including an overview of quality assurance and accreditation, the quality assurance cycle, guidance on institutional self-assessment, and the development of a quality culture within Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
On the first day, participants listened to expert presentations on quality assurance principles, accreditation frameworks, the value development cycle, and institutional self-assessment guidelines. Working groups then actively discussed and proposed internal quality assurance activities suitable for the University, as well as the types of evidence required to support institutional self-assessment.
On the second day, in addition to the specialized working groups, quality assurance teams from various faculties also participated. The participants were introduced to the concept of quality culture, an essential component in building an effective internal quality assurance system in higher education institutions. Discussions were held to propose approaches for developing a quality culture specific to Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in group discussions and practical activities based on assigned tasks. Each group then presented the outcomes of their discussions.
The final session featured a Q&A exchange between participants and the expert, during which many questions were raised and addressed. This provided valuable insights and practical guidance for improving the University’s self-assessment process.
In his closing remarks, Nguyen Manh Hung, Rector and Chair of the Self-Assessment Council, emphasized the importance of institutional self-assessment and quality assurance in the survival and development of higher education institutions. He also expressed appreciation to Dr. Le Van Hao for his participation and support, and expressed hope for continued collaboration in quality assurance activities in the future.
